BIG WOOD FOR RABBIT CHASING

Hello folks, Doggy Dougal here again. Just thought you might like to see the place where I do my "disappearing" acts and go chasing rabbits, dig holes, and generally enjoy myself away from anybody. You can see the place marked BIG WOOD. I can easily get through the hedge and i'm in. Grandad has alternative names for me :- 1) Magic because I can perform disappearing acts and 2) Boomerang because I always come back. Have to do a bit of wimpering now and again because I do lose my sense of direction slightly and I hear these many calls of Dougal Dougal Dougal. But I eventually re-unite so alls well. Wore myself out earlier today running around in the wood. Maybe i'm a greyhound in disguise !!

LAZY WET AUGUST MORNING

Yes it's me Dougal, lazing at the top of the stairs on yet another wet August morning. Eventually had a good walk yesterday. Grandad went one way, I went another. We do eventually meet but he doesn't like chasing rabbits (and his bad foot has flared up again). Looks like walking may be delayed yet again. I wonder what summer is really like ??

WEEKEND IN EDINBURGH

My first "long" car ride up to Edinburgh was great and I was very well behaved and slept most of the way. We stopped for a walk and a drink and got to Edinburgh early Saturday afternoon. It was great to see Martin and Mikey (and Uncle Simon and Auntie Karen) again. Haven't seen them all since Easter. The boys were quick to take me out for a walk and play with me. I had lots and lots of walks and went into the park on Sunday to play ball but I nearly got attacked by another dog who didn't seem to like me. I tried sleeping in various places during Saturday night and ended up next to Grandad. Strange house I suppose. The boys have a new tent in the garden and have a trampoline. They would have liked me to go on the trampoline but its not for dogs. We came back late on Sunday evening when the roads were very quiet and it was quite cool - just right for me. Once again I slept most of the way apart from a quick stop just after Newcastle for a walk (and a wee). We arrived back home just before midnight. Another big long sleep and now its horribly wet this Monday morning. I'll be waiting for my walk until it improves a bit.

FIT AS A BUTCHERS DOG

Hello folks it's me again. Just wanted to tell you that i'm back to my usual self after last weeks off colour episode. Already had two good walks today and i'm eating like a good un. Thought you might like to see an up to date photo so Grandad took this at 4 o'clock this afternoon so it's hot off the press. I don't look too bad do I ??

Tuesday 05 Aug

Well there I was singing my own praises and today I don't feel too good again. So its off to that horrible place called THE VET for a quick check. They reckon I might have a food intolerance. That means something i've been eating might have been upsetting me. So i'll have to stick to one thing for weeks.

Wednesday 06 Aug

Well I feel quite good today and nothing has changed.
Maybe its just called being a dog.

Thursday 07 Aug

Yes folks i'm still fine - sleeping well, eating ok and walking well.

THIS IS THE HORROR PLACE.

IT'S CALLED A VET.

A BAD NIGHT

Unfortunately I had a bad night on Monday / Tuesday. Won't go into too much detail but the picture may give you a clue as to the major part of the problem. Putting it down to a variety of things but a re-frozen choc ice, cold BBQ sausage, yorkshire pudding may well have been contributory factors. I am now on dried food only while I settle down. It has also been very warm and I don't like that so much. Think i'm ok now but i'll let you know.

SUNNY WEATHER & BBQ

Hi folks, its me again - now a HOT DOG !! Yes the weather has turned to summer (but only for the time being as its going to rain this coming week !!). Next door had their annual BBQ last night finished about 2am. Lots of bottles and cans and a big bouncy castle. N & G didn't go, decided to invite Katy, Paul and Dawn for their own BBQ although Dawn went off with one of her friends so she didn't appear. Anyway a good night was had by all. I got to eat sausage and burger and i've had a pork kebab for breakfast this morning after my walk. Getting a bit warm for me to be walking in the sunshine. I need Factor Dog1 block to stop my fur from singeing

WALL-E & CHOC ICE

Monday 21 July
Hi folks, it's me again - yes Dougal, your favourite hound. Plenty more walking over the weekend back on the usual trails at Elmswell, Garton and round the farm off Spellowgate this morning. Got caught in a heavy shower yesterday. Was blue sky one minute then the heavens opened. Good old British weather I hear everone say. Cloudy this morning but it got better later. N & G went off to see WALL-E at the cinema. Very good I understand. Got a choc ice after being left alone for a few hours. I do seem to have eaten well today - two tins, loads of biscuits, plate of veg and gravy, ice cream and more dried chicken and rice food for supper. Simon and family seem to be enjoying their trip down under and should now be in Melbourne. Katy and co are due back from Turkey next Friday. Dawn has cracked a tooth on the bottom of a swimming pool. She'll see the dentist as soon as she gets back.
