MAX AND MAGNUM

I like Magnum ice cream. Haven't eaten a whole one yet as I have to rely on others eating one and letting me have the last little bit. Very tasty especially when you're enjoying the sunshine as well.
Back on the Spellowgate walk this morning and had a good hour and ten minutes run. Met another dog called Max who was 10 months old and a bit like a Labrador. We had some great fun in and out of the wheat and grass and I was thoroughly wet, bedraggled and tired by the time we got home for a drink and breakfast (and a sleep in the sun).

PLAYTIME WITH MEG

Well we do keep trying different walks and early this morning we set off near to a farm (off Spellowgate in Driffield) and walked down a good wide track until we reached a gate which said "Beware of the Bull". Didn't see any bull but we turned round and tried a different track which headed back towards Driffield. We then met a man and his dog Meg. She was smaller than me and sort of labradorish. Well I had a good chase about doing my usual manic dance in and out of a wheat field and Meg joined in too. In fact we had a real good time which is unusual for me with other dogs. I'm quite proud of myself (apart from being soaking wet and covered in grass seeds). Perhaps I am learning after all ??

POORLY DOG

Thursday 19th June.
Well unfortunately i'd been a bit sick in the night but I felt well enough to go for a walk and I enjoyed that. We stuck to the outskirts of Driffield and I was off the lead most of the time. Freedom - I like running free. We had a good walk but for the rest of the day I did not feel my usual self and didn't want to eat. Grandad tried to get me some Dogpol (that's Calpol for dogs !!) but I did start to feel a bit better about 10pm and we went out for a walk.

Friday 20th June.

This morning I feel a lot better and my tail is wagging. Eaten some biscuits and a bit of dried food. Been out for a good walk and had a chase round the garden so hopefully i'm getting back to my usual self. Grandad says my coat feels very fluffy - not much of it now, seem to have lost most of it. No doubt it will be back for the winter. I've just noticed a new bag of Pedigree Mixer has arrived !!

FATHERS DAY EARLY WALK

Poor old Grandad never sleeps very well these days and he was up early today so had a quick bite of breakfast and we were down on the old railway track well before 9am. He was heading for Beverley and I was heading towards Market Weighton - I won. Grandad's home town is Market Weighton but apart from that it has one claim to fame - it was the birthplace of William Bradley who was the tallest Englishman ever recorded and his height was 7 feet 9 inches. He was born in 1787 and died in 1820. The house where he lived is still standing and they celebrate "Giant Bradley Day" every year. I'm full of information aren't I !!!
We didn't walk all the way to Market Weighton as its nearly 4 miles but we had a real nice walk and didn't see anyone until we got back to the car park at Kiplingcotes.
I did my usual rabbit chasing but still no success. Plenty of good exercise though for me and Grandad.

CHASING THAT ROGER RABBIT

Well hello again all you guys and girls its me your Doggy mate Dougal again. Been a bit quiet over the past week or so but one or two things to tell you. First of all i'm afraid to say that we are down to five cygnets on the canal. However, those five have really grown and look healthy still swimming with Mum and Dad. Unfortunately the canal bank path is getting very overgrown and I kept disappearing this morning into 4 foot high very wet grass. Think Grandad ended up wetter than me although I did resemble a drowned rat. Soon dried though after a bowl of Butchers tripe !! We will probably abandon the canal path for now and stick to The Hudson Way and I have another favourite walk near Sledmere. How do you like the up to date photo - I think I look good with my coat shining in the sunshine. That was taken the other day along the Hudson Way when I went looking for rabbits. Still haven't caught one but had some fun trying. Theres a picture above next to mine of the type of rabbit I keep chasing - i'll keep on trying. Keeps me fit !! OK well i'll be off for now and try and get you a picture of the five cygnets soon. Oh by the way the foal is doing well and growing. Bye for now from you Doggy Mate DOUGAL
