A BAD NIGHT

Unfortunately I had a bad night on Monday / Tuesday. Won't go into too much detail but the picture may give you a clue as to the major part of the problem. Putting it down to a variety of things but a re-frozen choc ice, cold BBQ sausage, yorkshire pudding may well have been contributory factors. I am now on dried food only while I settle down. It has also been very warm and I don't like that so much. Think i'm ok now but i'll let you know.

SUNNY WEATHER & BBQ

Hi folks, its me again - now a HOT DOG !! Yes the weather has turned to summer (but only for the time being as its going to rain this coming week !!). Next door had their annual BBQ last night finished about 2am. Lots of bottles and cans and a big bouncy castle. N & G didn't go, decided to invite Katy, Paul and Dawn for their own BBQ although Dawn went off with one of her friends so she didn't appear. Anyway a good night was had by all. I got to eat sausage and burger and i've had a pork kebab for breakfast this morning after my walk. Getting a bit warm for me to be walking in the sunshine. I need Factor Dog1 block to stop my fur from singeing

WALL-E & CHOC ICE

Monday 21 July
Hi folks, it's me again - yes Dougal, your favourite hound. Plenty more walking over the weekend back on the usual trails at Elmswell, Garton and round the farm off Spellowgate this morning. Got caught in a heavy shower yesterday. Was blue sky one minute then the heavens opened. Good old British weather I hear everone say. Cloudy this morning but it got better later. N & G went off to see WALL-E at the cinema. Very good I understand. Got a choc ice after being left alone for a few hours. I do seem to have eaten well today - two tins, loads of biscuits, plate of veg and gravy, ice cream and more dried chicken and rice food for supper. Simon and family seem to be enjoying their trip down under and should now be in Melbourne. Katy and co are due back from Turkey next Friday. Dawn has cracked a tooth on the bottom of a swimming pool. She'll see the dentist as soon as she gets back.

DRIFFIELD SHOW

Yes as previously mentioned today is Driffield Agricultural Show. Same time, same place, same people its all a bity "samey" year on year on year. We just get a year older all the time !! However, it gets lots and lots of people so it must be good. Even has a dog show - now why wasn't I entered - "Neurotic Mutt of the Year ??" Anyway Nanna did her bit on the Marie Curie Cancer Care stand. Hope they raised lots of money with their tombola. Grandad just had a wander round but did buy a magnotherapy bracelet for his bad shoulder. Will he be magnetic ?? Anyway I didn't go, too warm and too busy for me. I got my walk in early - the Nafferton walk this morning. Talk to you all soon from your doggy mate Dougal.

GRANDAD'S NEW CAR

Morning all. Forgot to to you about Grandad's new car. He took delivery of a new Citroen Cl in red just like the one in the photo, back on July 2nd. He's already taken it to Bristol and i've been in it a few times. Its supposed to be economical and do up to 60mpg with £35 road fund tax. Heres hoping !!

KANGAROOS AND TURKEY

Already told you that Simon and family are now in Perth, Australia (where its cool and damp) and Katy and family are now in Turkey where its very hot (100 degrees and rising). I don't think i'd like to be that hot, not with my thick black fur. So its very quiet here and time to try out more new walks. About 2 miles away on the road to York is a hamlet called Elmswell. It is the site of an old medieval village but theres nothing there apart from a couple of houses.
There is a nice walk round Elmswell towards Garton-on-the-Wolds or you can stop half way and come back. With the latter I get to be off the lead all the time. We've done both this weekend and I can honestly same i'm pretty tired right now. Might put my feet up and watch the doggy telly this afternoon. Seen some big machines called pea viners. They harvest peas ready to go straight to Birds Eye. Driffield Show coming up on Wednesday. Nanna is helping out on the Marie Curie Cancer Care tombola stand. Hope it doesn't rain. Weather forecast not too good. Think N & G are going to see Mamma Mia! at the cinema tomorrow. They went to see Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian last Wednesday. Think they also be planning to go to Beverley Races on Tuesday if the weather is fine. Maybe they can win lots of money ?? Somehow I doubt it.

BACK ON THE HUDSON WAY

Well hello again all you people, it's your old mate Dougal here. Been a bit quiet lately so thought we'd better update you. I spent the weekend with Katy, Paul and Dawn as Nanna and Grandad went to Bristol to see Andrew and Dawn (to configure Nanna's shiny new Dell laptop) but I wasn't very well. Off my food and sick twice I was not a happy doggy. However, we've been back on the Hudson Way this morning for a good long walk and I went to school and back so I am well exercised today. Had a big plate of vegetables and gravy for my tea last night - lovely grub and have just had a dish of Butchers Chicken and Tripe so I think i'm about back to normal. Had a bath yesterday but I really don't like water. Anyway I came out very fluffy when I had eventually dried out. The bathroom got a bit wet what with me shaking everywhere. Its going to be quiet for the next couple of weeks as Dawn, Georgia, Jamie, Katy and Paul fly off to Turkey on Friday morning. Bit warm out there - 106 degrees last week. Martin and Mikey have gone off to Australia via Singapore and they won't be back till August. So it'll be Nanna, Grandad and Dougal. Grandad hasn't been too well either lately. Apart from his shoulder problem he had to postpone his trip to Bristol by a week after feeling unwell. Perhaps he had the same as me ??? The doc has put him on some iron tablets (says he's a knee mick) and some other ones as well. He now takes so many that he rattles when he walks !! Had a walk down by the canal yesterday but its got too overgrown to see anything so can't tell you anything about the cygnets. Well thats brought you about up to date so i'll say bye from your old doggy mate Dougal.
