MORE FILM REVIEWS

Push, i'm afraid Grandad said was watchable but very disappointing set in Hong Kong about a gang of people with psychic powers being chased by a shady US government agency. A bit far fetched and rated only 4/10.
Gran Torino on the other hand is quite superb with Clint Eastwood at his best. Grandad won't give the storyline away but will award it 8/10 so its well worth watching.
The Unborn is a classic horror film quite scary in parts but overall a disappointing 5/10.

CABARET

Nanna and Grandad went off to Hull New Theatre last night to see Cabaret - amazingly enough a musical they have never seen !! They both said that the show was good in parts but were both slightly disappointed overall. You can't win them all !! Hull City lost again.
Holiday time approaching.

BYE BYE GOLF

Grandad has managed to sell all his golf clubs disposing of all the odd ones on e-bay recently. Having earlier sold his electric trolley, golf bag and set of irons he is only left with 2 pairs of golf shoes and some gloves. These will probably go on e-bay shortly. There is an old trolley and he has a lot of golf balls but they will be going to Edinburgh for Martin and Mikey. So the era of Grandad golf approaches its end.

GRANDAD'S LATEST TIGGER

This is Grandad's latest arrival from Walt Disney World. A Halloween mummified Tigger dating from 2001.

BACK ON THE BEACH

As it's half-term this week Grandad is not going to the cinema so he has a bit more time on his hands. So despite a long walk this morning I was off to the beach this afternoon. There was quite a few people about and one or two dogs. To tell you the truth I was very tired from about 4 o clock and could hardly move this evening. Must have done over 5 miles today !!!
The picture is of Flamborough Head taken from Fraisthorpe beach.
Grandad won the latest golf XBox match with Uncle Pando earlier this evening.

DOUGAL IN PINK SLIPPERS

Here I am earlier tonight after a dinner of Coq-au-Vin and vegetables at Auntie Katy's house. Do you like the pink slippers ??

3 MORE FILMS AND DODGY WEATHER

Nanna and Grandad saw Revolutionary Road last Monday and said it was very good. Set in 1950's America and worth 8/10. Grandad saw Che (Part 1) on Wednesday. The story of Che Guevara the Cuban revolutionary. Again worth 8/10. He's now waiting for Part 2. Grandad then saw the updated Friday the 13th (guess what it was Friday 13th February) a real "slasher" movie right up his street. He gives it 7/10. Not everyone's cup of tea !!!

The snow has almost disappeared just bits here and there but it has been a dodgy week and we hope there won't be any more. When it melts it just leaves a big mess and I can't get in the fields for they are just mud. Roll on spring.

Nanna and Grandad are looking forward to their weeks holiday in 2 weeks time. Gran Canaria weather looks better than England. I'm going to stay with Auntie Katy, Paul and Dawn for the week. Grandad has already got the tickets so just a bit of packing to do.

A STRANGE DAY

Hello folks yes its me your favourite doggy again. Thought we'd got rid of the white stuff but it returned with a vengeance on Thursday. First Grandad had gone to York on what was forecast to be a reasonable day but it started snowing late morning...........and didn't stop. He cut short his visit and only just made it up Garrowby Hill on the way back having met an articulated lorry reversing down the hill which was closed almost immediately afterwards. Grandad did make it home but Katy and Paul ran into serious problems. ALL the routes into Driffield were blocked. Cut off you might say. Seems funny to me. You can fly to the moon but a bit of snow and.............
The picture shows slow moving traffic on the wolds earlier this evening. Katy and Paul finally made it home at 10.30pm. Over 150 cars stuck in the Yorkshire Wolds !!

MORE FILMS AND XBOX LIVE

A further three films have been seen by Grandad this week. He went to see Valkyrie - the story of a plot to kill Adolf Hitler - with Nana and said it was excellent, certainly 8/10. Underworld : Rise of the Lycans was the second one which is a tale of vampires versus werewolves probably 6/10. The third was "The curious case of Benjamin Button" a story of someone who is born an old man and then grows younger with age. Grandad was slightly disappointed, said it was like Forrest Gump in reverse and rates it no more than 6/10. No doubt it will win lots of awards!!!Another XBox game was played yesterday with Grandad coming back from 4 down to beat Uncle Pand at the first extra hole. The house smells of curry from Grandads efforts cooking red chicken parsee last night.

We're just waiting for our back porch building man so my walk is delayed this morning. However, I did get back to the Big Wood yesterday and enjoyed myself scampering around the trees.

XBOX LIVE

Grandad and Uncle Pand have started to play golf on XBox Live on a Wednesday night. Uncle Pand won the first game !! I think they are planning a car racing game for next time ?

CANAL WALKING AGAIN

Yes back to the canal this morning, thats twice in recent days. Very frosty and the ground is very hard but a good walk from Whin Hill back home - about two miles. Came across one man bird watching. He said not much was happening though he had seen a Kestrel, Cormorant and a Heron amongst lots of other smaller birds. Plenty to see if you know what you are looking for. Nanna and Grandad off to see "Valkyrie" this afternoon and they might call in to Pizza Express for dinner. Sounds ok to me.

WHERE'S THE SNOW GONE

You wouldn't believe that we are living in the same place as yesterday. It's just gone 9am the snow has disappeared and the sun is shining. The forecast said lots more overnight but there isn't any !!!
We lost our Internet connection yesterday but Uncle Pand helped get it back last night. Maybe the snow had something to do with it.
All the schools back open today.
Off for a walk shortly. Had two long walks yesterday so maybe I need a rest today ??
Nearly forgot - woke everyone up at 4.45am doing my howling wolf impression. Must have been dreaming but I dont remember.

SNOW SNOW THICK THICK SNOW

Looks like Monday is a total "white off" !! All the schools in Driffield are closed !!! Just look at the pictures. I like snow. Grandad took me for a walk and then I played while he cleared part of the drive. There are lots of children playing and some sledges are out. Make the most of it as it wont last long. Apparently this is the worst winter for snow for many years !! The bottom picture is the field immediately behind our house. Could make a Christmas card !

Sunday 1 February 2009

CHINESE NIGHT

Dawn's Starstruck Theatre Acadamy put on a "Chinese Night" yesterday to celebrate their forthcoming production of Disney's "Mulan" at Easter. A lot of the children dressed as chinese as did some of the adults !! It also gave Starstruck a chance to present their donations to two charities including Marie Curie Cancer Care and you can see Nanna in the big picture receiving a big cheque and the donation of £125.00. There was prawn crackers and some chinese food. Grandad contributed a quiz and a good night was had by all.

Meanwhile i'm back on the canal walk again - a chance to see the baby swans now well grown up.
