KNOWING / IN THE LOOP

Knowing :- A teacher opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son's school. In it are some chilling predictions - some that have already occurred, and others that are about to !! The film is good for the first half but poor in the second. Rated 5.5/10.

In the Loop :- The U.S. President and British Prime Minister fancy a war but not everyone agrees that war is a good thing. Just shows how funny and stupid politics can be. Very funny, plenty of swearing. Rated 8/10.

STATE OF PLAY / THE UNINVITED

State of Play - The film tells of a journalist's probe into the suspicious death of a Congressman's mistress. Rated 8/10

The Uninvited - A young girl returns home to her sister after a stint in a mental hospital, though her recovery is jeopardised thanks to her cruel stepmother, aloof father and a ghost in their home. Rated 6.5/10

THE DEER HUNTER

Yesterday morning's walk started off as per usual. Nanna dropped off Grandad and me to do the "Nafferton" walk across the fields and over the railway. Grandad noticed before we started what looked like two large dogs or hares in the distance, anyway off we went, me in front as usual. We saw one or two more dogs out for a walk but then I saw what Grandad had seen earlier - two deer - and I was off and so were they. Well there was no stopping me. They shot over the railway line, Dougal shot over the railway line and was gone - out of site. Grandad was busily shouting for me and blowing his whistle but I was after them deer. Didn't catch them of course but had some fun and returned after 8 or 9 minutes totally exhausted. Then we carried on with our walk. Nice little interval !!

THE BOAT THAT ROCKED

Pure Sixties nostalgia. If you lived during the pirate radio era then this film is a must. Easily rated 9/10. Very funny, very watchable.

INTERNET WORKING AGAIN

After two weeks all the wires seem to be glued back together and normal service appears to be resumed. Would you believe all the trouble was caused by destruction of a tunnel on the London Olympic site !!

MULAN

Dawn begins her Starstruck production of Mulan jr. tonight. Everyone is going to see the show on Friday and Sunday.

HAPPY EASTER, BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY

Today is Easter Saturday so Happy Easter to all. It's also Uncle Pand's birthday and Nanna and Grandad's 39th wedding anniversary so congratulations to all. They will be going out tonight to celebrate.

NEW PORCH, NEW FENCE AND NO INTERNET

Hello folks its me your doggy mate Dougal here again. Our Internet has been down for a week so i've been missing for a ten days now. Apparently some contractors working on the new Olympic site in London destroyed a tunnel containing some cables and so lots of communications disappeared. Anyway we are back on line now. Our new porch is up and in use (not sure if I like it as it's got more doors and I can't get used to it). I'm sure i'll get used to it - it's got another bed for me in it and a new water bowl so i'm well equipped. We have a new fence as well between us and our next door neighbours. The old one was rotten. Our neighbour organised it and paid for it but I think Grandad is making a donation towards it. Lastly the "guest" bedroom has been decorated and has a new carpet and new bedside lamps. Looks good !

THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT

A bit scary in parts. After a family is forced to relocate for their son's health, they begin experiencing supernatural behaviour in their new home, which turns out to be a former mortuary. Rated 6/10
